Can An Abses Tooth Affect Your General Health If Untreated?

September 2, 2009

my wife has an abses tooth and she has been getting sick a lot and her syptoms are stomache ache and nausia a lot, with diarea. they ran a few test and they all came back fine. well we just went to the dentist and found out about this abses tooth in the back of her mouth. well its full of infection and bacteria, so could that be the reason she has been getting sick?

YES… it can cause heart damage. Toxins running thru your body from the infection isn’t good either.
I wish her a speedy recovery!

Any type of mouth infection is systemic, meaning it runs through your whole system. In fact many people don’t know that untreated dental infection is directly linked to heart disease. Get it treated soon. Good luck.

An abscess is an infection. Like an other infection, it can lead to other, more SERIOUS problems, including death.
She needs to see a dentist asap who will likely put her on
antibiotics to treat the infection, then he can treat the problem
that is causing the infection. Antibiotics alone will NOT solve the problem!
    Good Luck!

Yes there would be a connection between these infections. She should seek help for her tooth and see if the situation resolves

The bacteria can get into your circulation and cause all kinds of problems, including serious heart problems. She should get it taken care of immediately.

Yes, this probably caused it. An abscess puts bacteria straight into the bloodstream the more infected the more bacteria released into the bloodstream. This also travels around the body and can cause heart problems/etc. But people w/ heart problems are at a much higher risk. This can also swell enough to cut off your air way, etc.
