If I was coming down with a cold, taking antibiotics and getting treatment from my Dentist I would ring to let him/her know about my cold and taking antibiotics. Afterall he/she is the only one that can answer your question. Maybe the Dentist might think it is safer to leave it until you are well.
The 24 hours notice will be safe if you ring a.s.a.p.

Today is only Tuesday so you have two more days to get it under control. How do you do that? You feed a cold and starve a fever. You need to eat healthy, sleep alot and continue with your appointment. Sometimes a cold is a sign of body weakness and in your case an infection could get the better of you so proceed with the appointment but tell the doctor the situation and why you chose the course of action that you did. He or she can wear a mask and be protected but you need to get the tooth fairy to ok your situation. Good luck and remember sleep and rest help enormously. And as far as that quandry is concerned, forget about it.

Should be fine, as long as you're not afraid of coughing / sneezing during the procedure, then making the dentist stick that drill in in the side of your mouth, it should be fine

You should call your dentist's office and ask them what they'd like you to do. They'd probably be happy to reschedule you...your antibiotics wont help your cold however because colds are viral...not bacterial. Your dentist will probably thankyou for being so considerate however.

Here are many ways that you can whitening your teeth!
For home remedies.
Mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to form toothpaste. Brush the teeth regularly with this paste. It will remove all stains in a month.
Use bicarbonate of soda 5 minutes before brushing the teeth with normal toothpaste in the morning. This is a good home remedy for teeth whitening.
Rubbing the bark of walnut tree on the teeth helps in removing all stains from the teeth.
Strawberries are considered natural teeth whiteners. Rubbing the teeth with strawberries daily will remove all the stains.
If you would like a suggestion on tooth whitening gel, here's something for you!
Crest Night Effects Whitening Gel (about $18.00) allows you to remove stains while you sleep. The tooth whitening system has a fresh, wintergreen flavor. After fourteen days of sleeping with this product on your teeth, you will wake up to a vibrant smile. You should see results in two days, although there are reports of tooth whitening results in one night
